Description


We are delighted to inform you that our school has won a grant for our Erasmus +Ka1project issued in 2020. On the other hand this project is a continuation  of the 2019 Erasmus project.

The aim of our project has been tailor-made to the special features and needs of our bilingual Lilla Téri Elementary School in Debrecen.

The goal of the institute is the professional and methodological modernisation of English language teaching. Also we would like to update our methodology of the subjects that are taught in the target language.

 

We would also like for our other teachers – who are not English teachers – to be able to improve their English communicative skills and become committed to supporting the usefulness of the target language and its acquisition.

Our project enables our above mentioned teachers to take part in different training courses abroad. These teachers, who teach their subjects in English, have chosen training courses according to their special fields, interests and personalities.

 

We have seven members in our mobility project. One teacher from the senior section has chosen a course in Content and Language Integrated Learning with the properage group in Malta.

The course in Tenerife shows the participants how to use games in lessons in the experience-based education and how games can be tools for cooperation with the teenagers. It also presents how game activities can contribute to the development of emotional and social intelligence, to the many creative ways of self expression, the enhancement of efficiency and conflict resolution.

The course in Barcelona also shows creative strategies for language teachers. They show the learning styles, the incentives of language learning and motivational tools.The course also focuses on traditional and digital tools, which promote language development. The participants get acquainted with the current most important ideas of linguistics and psycholinguistics applied in langugage education and acquisition.The language course participants choose trainings according to their levels. Their language skills develop tremendously due to the the target language environment along with their strategies of language acquisition that they can further

develop at home.

The training course of our head institute and project leader joins the main motifs of the other six mobilities and it mainly focuses on international relationships and contacts.The teacher training courses take place at different times in different cities and countries. Four of them are held in Malta (St Julien's), two in Spain (Barcelona and Tenerife), one in France (Reunion).

 

The methodological, professional and practical continuative education of teachers from several countries in Europe is international, it is carried out with the representatives of many countries. On one hand these courses deal with a professional topic and on the other hand they are intensive language courses.

During the trainings our teachers get to know a whole arsenal of new teaching ideas, they also improve their Englishlanguage skills and get to possess such professional material that they can use in practice and implement in their everyday pedagogical work. These courses put great emphasis on the motivation of students, on a child-centered approach, thus improving the teachers’ thinking, creativity and problem solving skills. By introducing several practical ideas they try to encourage the teachers to actively participate, to experience and try out the new methods in the language lessons.

 

After finishing the courses we can measure their effects on our teachers’ whole personalities by having them complete a questionnaire. We can find out how much their self-confidence and creativity have developed, how their teaching attitude has changed and to what exent they have become more open. We hope for a positive change in their entrepreneurial spirit, since the courses strengthen their self-confidence, independence and open their approach to innovative perspectives.

 An additional benefit of these courses besides developing their language skills is that our teachers can get a glimpse into the background of cultures of participants from other countries, thus their multicultural competence is developing too.

They can experience the European spirit. They can gain personal experiences in connection with the everyday life of children from other European countries. The members of the course are English teachers from different parts of Europe that can motivate them to make contacts and build bridges to help professional cooperations. They can become familiar with the educational system of other nations, their methods and ideas on language teaching.

They can also exchange good practises with other course members. The freshly made friendships,contacts can lead to a future cooperation.I am convinced that such a change can lead to a life-long Learning process on professional level.
